About SODO

SODO electricity distribution system operator, d. o. o. (Ltd.) (abbreviated name: SODO d. o. o.) is an electricity distribution system operator in the Republic of Slovenia.

SODO d. o. o has been established by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia to the occupation of an electricity distribution system operator, under the 23rd Article of the Energy Act (Official Gazette of RS, no. 27/07) with the Act of establishing a limited liability company as SODO electricity distribution system operator, d. o. o. (Official Gazette of RS, no. 27/07).

The Government of the Republic of Slovenia granted a concession with decision, number 36001-4/2007/5, dated 14. 6. 2007 to SODO d. o. o. for a period of 50 years from the date of conclusion of the concession contract (Regulation concession public service activities of electricity distribution system operator - Official Gazette of RS, no. 39/2007, dated 4. 5. 2007).

SODO d. o. o. is licensed to practice energy activities as an electrical energy distribution system operator. The licence was issued by the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for energy after 6th Article of the Energy Act, no. 0686-08-015/002/07, dated 8. 6. 2007 and 9. 6. 2012.

After signing the concession contract there were signed lease contracts on the electricity infrastructure and provision of services for electricity distribution system operator between SODO d. o. o. and the individual electricity distribution companies (EDCs) in the Republic of Slovenia: Elektro Celje, d. d., Elektro Gorenjska, d. d., Elektro Ljubljana, d. d., Elektro Maribor, d. d., Elektro Primorska, d. d. and some closed distribution systems in the Republic of Slovenia.

SODO d. o. o together with its business partners (EDCs) provides reliable, safe and efficient supply of electricity to more than 930,000 users of distribution network in the Republic of Slovenia.

SODO d. o. o. together with its business partners (EDCs) provides long-term capacity of the electricity network that allows reasonable requests for connection and access to the network while taking into account the standards for quality of supply voltage and quality of electricity supply.

SODO‘s main role is in assuring the appropriate planning of system development, its construction, management, operation and maintenance.

SODO’s role in investment planning:

  • Data collection from EDC and preparation of the 10-years period Network Development Plan under the Ministry‘s of infrastructure and Spatial Planning instructions.
  • 1-year Network Investment Plan is a part of the contract between SODO and EDC.
  • Setting basis for priorities and criteria for investment planning.
  • Unifying typification od Electricity Distribution Network.
